Time axis: day and VWAP-period separators, macro event lines
The time axis of the Senzoukria chart can draw vertical day-change separators, VWAP period restarts and macro economic event lines, and can colour the time labels that carry a scheduled release.

What it does
The time axis runs along the bottom of the chart. Besides the hour labels, it can carry three kinds of vertical marks: a dashed grey line where the calendar day changes, a faint dotted line where a new VWAP period starts, and a coloured line for each macro economic event pushed by the News module. A fourth option colours the time label itself when a release falls inside that label's slot.
The day change also changes the label: the first label of a new day is prefixed with the date (for example 17 Mar 21:00) so that a jump from 16:28 to 08:19 does not read like a glitch. A label that has no room is skipped, but the separator line stays.
Time labels follow the chart timezone chosen with the TZ control: local, UTC, New York, Chicago, London, Paris or Tokyo. A day change is evaluated in that timezone.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Grid lines | On | Master switch for background lines. When it is off, no day separator is drawn either, whatever the Day separators toggle says. |
| Day separators | On | Dashed vertical line (4 px dash, white at 18 % opacity) from the top of the chart to the axis at every day change. The toggle is disabled while Grid lines is off. |
| VWAP period separators | On | Dotted vertical tick in the VWAP line colour at 22 % opacity where the classic VWAP restarts, drawn across the chart area only and only when more than one period is visible. Periods follow the VWAP anchor: 15m, 1h, 4h, session (default), 3d, 7d or custom minutes. |
| Macro event lines | On | Vertical lines on the chart at the time of each economic marker from the News module. Also listed as Macro events in the Indicators panel. Drawn outside the indicator block, so they stay visible while panning. |
| Highlight macro release times | Off | Colours the hour label that carries an economic release with the marker's colour, so 16:00 reads as an event before it happens. Only markers already on the chart are considered. |
How to use it
On high timeframes, traders often turn Grid lines off to declutter and expect the day separators to go with them; that is exactly what happens, and the Day separators row shows its real state greyed out. If you want day separators without the grid, this combination is not available: the grid is the master switch.
The VWAP separators exist so that a segmented VWAP line reads as a new average starting here rather than as a broken line. If you use a rolling anchor such as 1h, expect a tick every hour; on the session anchor you get one per session.
Macro event lines and the release-time highlight read the same markers but switch independently. A common setup is lines off and highlight on: the axis tells you when to be in front of the screen without vertical lines crossing the footprint cells.
Limits or pitfalls
Details worth knowing:
- Economic markers come from the News module, but the chart no longer waits for a visit to the News tab: switching on either macro option loads the calendar on its own and refreshes it every five minutes. If the calendar returns no event, there is nothing to draw.
- Indicator polylines (Hurst MR, for example) are cut at time gaps larger than three times the median bar step, so a weekend or session break does not produce a long diagonal line across the chart. This is a rendering rule; the indicator values are untouched.
- The day-change line runs from the top of the canvas down to the axis band, so it crosses the whole chart body, sub-panels included. The VWAP period separators stop at the edges of the chart area.
- The day separator colour and dash pattern are fixed (white at 18 % opacity, 4 px dash); the VWAP separator follows the VWAP line colour. Only the chart grid colour is user-configurable.

Frequently asked questions
- I turned off Day separators but the lines are still there. Why?
- Check the VWAP period separators and Macro event lines toggles: those are different lines. Day separators are dashed grey and change with the calendar day; VWAP separators are dotted and follow the VWAP anchor.
- Why is the Day separators toggle greyed out?
- Grid lines is off. The grid is the master switch for background lines, day separators included. Turn Grid lines on to re-enable the toggle.
- In which timezone is the day change computed?
- In the chart timezone selected with the TZ control (local, UTC, NY, CHI, LON, PAR, TYO). Changing it moves the separators and the dated labels.
