Replay a recorded session
on the same chart as live.

Pick a contract and a day, then play it back tick by tick from ×1 to ×25 on the same footprint chart you trade live: same toolbar, settings and indicators. Practise on a simulated evaluation account, or launch the auto backtest from the same screen.

The footprint chart that Replay plays back, shown here on a simulated MNQ session.

The app’s own code, compiled for the web and fed by a simulator. In the app, the same screen runs on your feed.

01

The chart it plays

Replay uses the live footprint chart, unchanged.

The app’s footprint renderer on simulated trades: the same chart Replay plays back, at the speed you choose.

Play a day

A recorded session, tick by tick.

  • One day of ticksDrained from your Rithmic connection (up to 5 million ticks), or from an imported Databento folder.
  • The live chartSame toolbar, shared settings and every indicator, painted as it arrives.
  • ×1 to ×25Play, pause and seek; a seek rebuilds the full history up to that point.
  • Heatmap in ReplayThe book rebuilt from the recording, calibrated on load and on seek.
03

Practise honestly

No hindsight, no real orders.

  • Blind sessionA random session from the catalogue, with its date hidden.
  • Context firstLoad 0 to 7 sessions of history before the day you play.
  • Live orders are offThe replay chart refuses live orders; you trade a simulated evaluation account.
  • Fills on the real spreadWith an MBP-1 file, a market buy pays the ask and a sell receives the bid; an empty side refuses the order instead of inventing a fill.
04

Then test it

From a session to a strategy.

  • Auto backtestLaunched from Replay: your JavaScript or Python strategy bar by bar, costs included, walk-forward.
  • Strategies on the simulated accountA saved strategy can trade the simulated account while the day plays.

A trade without a known aggressor side is set aside and counted, never filed as a buy. A quote is never turned into a trade.

06

How to use it

A session to rehearse, then a rule to test.

Illustrative videoSample data. Not a screen recording of the app. 18 s. Transcript: write the entry, exit and risk rules. Backtest the strategy with explicit costs and assumptions. Inspect challenge constraints; a simulated pass does not predict a live pass.

Works with

One app; every screen reads the same state.

Questions

The same list feeds the page and its structured data.

What data does Replay play back?

One day of ticks per session: drained from your connected Rithmic login (up to 5 million ticks), or imported from a folder of Databento files (DBN or CSV). An MBP-1 file also keeps the full best bid and ask. Each source’s licence and fees apply.

Can I place real orders in Replay?

No. The replay chart refuses live orders. You trade a simulated evaluation account; with an MBP-1 file, a market buy pays the ask and a sell receives the bid, and an order with an empty side is refused instead of filled at an invented price.

What is a blind session?

A random session from the catalogue with its date hidden, so you cannot remember how the day ended. You can still load 0 to 7 sessions of context before it.

Is it the same chart as live?

Yes. Replay mounts the live footprint chart with its drawing toolbar, shared settings and every indicator, played from ×1 to ×25. A seek rebuilds the full history up to that point.

Where is the backtest?

Inside Replay. The auto backtest runs your JavaScript or Python strategy bar by bar on the recorded days, with costs and walk-forward validation. The /backtest page describes it.

Is Replay part of the plan?

Yes — Replay is in the one plan at $29 a month. Market data stays billed by your provider.
