Developing POC

A developing POC is the point of control of a profile that is still being built, recalculated after every bar from the volume accumulated since the period opened. Its path across the session shows where the centre of the auction has been migrating.

How it differs from a fixed POC

A fixed POC is read from a finished profile. A developing POC is read from the profile as it grows: after each bar, the volume of that bar is added to the cumulative session profile and the level with the highest total becomes the new POC. Plotted as a line under the bars, it shows the history of where the most volume had traded at each moment of the session.

  • The profile resets at each session open. On CME futures Senzoukria anchors the session at 17:00 Chicago time.
  • When two levels tie on volume, the lower price is chosen, so the line does not jitter between equal levels.
  • The line jumps when a new level overtakes the old one; it does not interpolate.

What migration tells you

  • A flat developing POC through the session: the auction keeps returning to the same price, the session is balanced around it.
  • A POC that steps up in successive jumps: value is being rebuilt higher, the profile is likely to end P-shaped or as a trend day.
  • A POC that stays behind a moving price: the move has not attracted enough volume to shift value yet; either price returns to the POC or volume catches up.
  • Comparing the developing POC to the VWAP separates 'where volume clustered' from 'the volume-weighted average', which can be far apart on a trend day.

In Senzoukria

The overlay 'Session POC (developing)' in the 'Profiles & levels' group draws the cumulative session POC bar by bar, with a colour and an optional 'Smoothing' parameter. The 'Rolling VPOC' overlay is the related rolling-window version: the POC of the aggregated profile of the last N bars. The pane indicators 'POC Drift (ticks)' and 'POC Migration (ticks)' measure the per-bar POC movement, signed and absolute respectively, in ticks.

Common mistakes

  • Reading the developing line as if it were the final POC of the session; the final value is only known at the close.
  • Applying smoothing and then reading small movements literally; smoothing hides the jumps that carry the information.
  • Comparing the session POC with a bar POC: the bar POC is the busiest level of one bar only.

Frequently asked questions

Does the developing POC always end at the session POC?
Yes, by construction. The last value of the developing line, at the session's final bar, is the POC of the full session profile. Every earlier value was the POC of a partial profile.
Can the developing POC move down while price moves up?
Yes. The POC is the level with the most cumulative volume. If a rally is thin and a lower level keeps absorbing trades on pullbacks, the lower level can overtake the previous POC while price is higher.
Is the developing POC available on crypto charts?
The indicator runs on any chart with real volume at price. On Binance Spot and Perp data in Senzoukria, candles and volume at price are imported and stored locally, so the developing POC can be computed on the loaded history. Crypto has no exchange open, so the software splits crypto sessions at 00:00 UTC; the line resets there rather than at 17:00 Chicago time.
