The News page is a terminal: a strip with the Globex state, four session clocks and a countdown to the next high-impact event, a headline marquee, then the wire, the announcement map with the tape mood, and the economic calendar.

What it does
The top strip is the only part of the page that re-renders every second. It shows the Globex state as open, break or closed; the four equity sessions that set the rhythm for CME index futures, each with its local clock and the time until it opens or closes; and the next high-impact event with a countdown. The countdown reads as hours, minutes and seconds under a day, as days and hours beyond, and 'now' once the event has landed. An event still counts as next for five minutes after its time, because the candle of the announcement plays there.
Below the strip a marquee loops the freshest headlines. The grid then holds three columns: the wire with its search and preset tags on the left, the announcement map with the week ahead, the tape mood, the session movers and the keyword alerts in the middle, and the economic calendar on the right. A brief drawer sits underneath, and the page ends with the attribution line naming the sources and stating that nothing there is advice.
Tape mood is a small chart of the average GDELT tone of the reference sources over three days, drawn with a zero line, an area tinted by sign and the last point marked. The word next to it comes from the latest value: dark at or below −3, cautious at or below −1, neutral below +1, upbeat from +1 up. An arrow shows the drift between the first and the second half of the window. With fewer than two samples the chart is replaced by 'No tone data yet.'
The brief button asks the configured AI engine to read what the module has loaded — the wire and the calendar — and write a session brief. It is disabled while one is running, and if no engine is set up the panel says to configure one in the AI page first.

How to use it
- Use the strip as a clock, not as a feed: the Globex state and the countdown tell you whether the next few minutes are worth trading at all.
- Set a symbol preset so the session movers list only events for the zones that move your instrument in the next twelve hours at medium impact or above.
- Add a handful of keyword alerts rather than many — each one rings once per headline on the minute refresh.
- Ask for a brief after the wire and the calendar have loaded; with nothing loaded the brief says so instead of inventing material.
Limits and pitfalls
The Globex schedule is the regular weekly one. Like the footprint session clock, it covers neither holidays nor exceptional halts, so a quiet market on a US holiday will still show as open.
The wire is delayed about fifteen minutes and both sources are free feeds that rate-limit: when a source refuses, the page says it is rate-limited and retrying, or shows the age of the last good feed instead of pretending the data is current.
Tone is a measurement of news sentiment, not of price. Nothing on this page is a signal or advice, and the attribution line states it.
