4PropTrader and order flow software: shared system, entitlement to watch

4PropTrader accounts of the Rithmic type connect to the shared system named Rithmic Paper Trading, for both the evaluation and the Performance phase. The constraint worth knowing before you build a workflow around it is historical data: on free demo entitlements the History plant can refuse the request with code 13, which leaves charts live but empty of past sessions.

A shared system name, not a firm-specific one

Rithmic Paper Trading is a shared environment used by several firms for their simulated phase. It carries live market data with simulated order handling, so a footprint chart built on it is reading the real auction. 4PropTrader uses it for the evaluation and keeps it for the Performance account, which means the connection profile does not change at conversion.

Because the system is shared, the system name alone does not identify the firm. The credentials do. Use the ones issued for your Rithmic-type 4PropTrader account rather than the dashboard login.

Historical data is the part that can refuse

Live data and historical data are separate entitlements on a Rithmic account. An account can stream trades and depth perfectly while the History plant refuses to serve past sessions, and the refusal arrives as a code rather than as silence. Code 13 is the one to recognise here: it means the request was denied, not that the data does not exist.

This matters for order flow work more than for live scalping. Replaying a session, building a volume profile over several days, or backtesting a strategy all read history. If the entitlement denies it, those features are unavailable on that account even though the live chart looks healthy. A platform that reports the refusing step by name saves the hour otherwise spent suspecting the chart.

What to check before relying on it

  • Confirm the account is the Rithmic type: 4PropTrader products on other rails carry no Rithmic credentials.
  • Pull a few days of history early, before you need it, so an entitlement refusal surfaces outside a trading session.
  • Expect one concurrent market-data session per login, as on every Rithmic account.
  • Treat drawdown, daily loss and consistency terms as the firm's to set and change; verify them with 4PropTrader rather than with a simulation.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my 4PropTrader chart show live prices but no history?
Live and historical data are separate entitlements. On free demo entitlements the History plant can refuse with code 13, which leaves the live feed working and past sessions unavailable. It is an account entitlement question, not a chart bug.
Does the system name change when the account becomes funded?
No. 4PropTrader uses Rithmic Paper Trading for both the evaluation and the Performance account, so a working profile keeps working.
