Economic calendar, week ahead and what moves my session

The calendar panel lists scheduled releases with forecast, previous and actual, filtered by range, impact and country. Two companion panels read the same data: a seven-day load strip and a short list of the releases due in the next twelve hours for the chosen instrument.

What it does

Events are grouped by day and each row shows the local hour, the country, the event name, a one-line description when one is known, and the figures: F for forecast, P for previous, and A for actual once it is published. Three dots on the right encode the impact rating — three filled for high, two for medium, one for low. Clicking a row opens the detail panel.

Below twelve hours, the row also shows a live countdown; a release that is more than fifteen minutes old is dimmed as past. Clicking a day in the week-ahead strip filters the calendar to that day instead of opening anything, so the eye and the reading stay in the same place.

Week ahead and session movers

The week-ahead strip shows seven days side by side. The bar height is a load index computed as the number of high-impact events counted twice plus the number of medium-impact ones, normalised against the busiest day of the week. A day on which a market is closed is flagged, and the holidays are also spelled out in full underneath — a closure discovered at the open has already cost the morning.

"What moves my session" lists at most eight events in the next twelve hours, impact medium or higher, restricted to the zones of the instrument picked in the wire. With no instrument selected it shows all zones and invites you to choose one.

Limits and pitfalls

  • The window is two weeks because that is what the source publishes — there is nothing further out to show.
  • Times are rendered in the machine's local time zone; the raw event timestamps are UTC.
  • Forecast and previous figures come from the provider and are revised by it, not by the application.
  • When the source is unreachable the last valid calendar is kept on screen rather than emptied.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I only see high-impact events on a fresh install?
The default impact filter has High on and Medium and Low off. Toggle Medium or Low to widen the list.
What does "Next up" show exactly?
The next fifteen events from now, in time order, regardless of which day they fall on. Events more than fifteen minutes in the past are excluded.
Why is a day greyed out with a flag?
That day carries a market holiday for at least one zone. The flag names the zone, and the holiday is also listed in full below the strip.
