“Databento: book refused” or “Not authorized for mbp-10 schema” on the heatmap

What you see

The heatmap shows a refusal notice. Its text is Databento’s own message when one was received, for example “Not authorized for mbp-10 schema”; in 0.46.0 that wording is preceded by a short French label, “refusé par Databento :”. When no message was received, the fallback is “Databento: book refused”.

Why it happens

A Databento key only opens the datasets and schemas of its plan. The app checks the book stream every 3 seconds; when Databento refuses before any data arrived, the session is marked failed and not retried, because retrying a refused licence only repeats the refusal. An authentication failure is terminal in the same way. An error after data had flowed is treated as a cut and reconnected instead.

How to fix it

• Open Account → Broker Connections → API Keys → Databento and read “Licence (measured on your key)”. CME must show live for “Footprint + heatmap (CME, live)”; otherwise the switch explains “Needs a live CME licence on your Databento plan”.
• Check your plan with Databento for live access to the order book schema of CME Globex.
• Use “Re-check” after changing your plan, then reopen the heatmap.
• Meanwhile, use another depth source: Rithmic, a bridge, or the crypto feeds.

What it is not

• Not a Senzoukria licence problem: the refusal comes from Databento on your key.
• Not a network cut: those reconnect by themselves.
