Why doesn’t the app retry faster?

Does the rate limit affect the economic calendar?

The calendar comes from different public weekly feeds with their own cache, so the wire limit does not apply to it directly.

The Senzoukria news wire comes from GDELT, a free open-data feed that allows about one request every few seconds per IP. When it throttles, the app stops calling for a while and says how long, instead of retrying and extending the ban.

What you see

On the News page, the wire shows “Source rate-limited — retrying in {s} s. Free feed, one request every few seconds.”, “Source rate-limited — it will come back on its own.”, or “Source unreachable — check the connection.” Other messages from the source are shown as received. On the Welcome dashboard, a calendar failure reads “The calendar could not be loaded: {error}”.

Why it happens

GDELT is open data with no key, and it throttles per IP; above the limit it can cut the connection. The app keeps at least 6.5 seconds between its requests and, after a refusal, trips a breaker: no call for 150 s, then 300 s, 600 s and 900 s on consecutive refusals, reset at the first accepted answer. Insisting was measured to prolong the ban. The economic calendar comes from separate public weekly feeds that also need no key.

How to fix it

Wait for the countdown; the wire comes back by itself.
Avoid reopening the News page repeatedly in a short time, and close duplicate News windows.
If several people share your public IP (office, VPN), their traffic counts too; try without the VPN.
For “Source unreachable”, check your internet connection and firewall.

What it is not

Not a missing API key: the wire and the calendar need none.
Not a Senzoukria outage: the limit is the source’s.

When to contact support

When none of this helps, write to support through Menu → Report a problem or on the Senzoukria Discord. If the countdown restarts at 900 s for hours, include your network setup (VPN, shared office IP).
