“This account signs in with Google”: signing in to the Senzoukria desktop app

A Senzoukria account created with Google has no password, and the desktop app cannot sign in with Google directly. Set a password on the website with “Forgot password?”, then sign in to the app with that email and password.

What you see

After entering your email, the sign-in card shows “This account signs in with Google. Use « Forgot password? » below to set a password, then sign in here.”

Why it happens

The desktop app signs in with an email and a password. An account created on the website with Google has no password until you set one, so the server answers that the account is Google-only. The message was written after a beta tester read “invalid credentials” on a valid account and stayed stuck: it now says exactly what to do.

How to fix it

  • Click “Forgot password? Signed up with Google?” under the sign-in form; it opens the website’s password page in your browser.
  • Set a password for the same email address.
  • Back in the app, sign in with that email and the new password.
  • Keep using Google on the website if you like: setting a password does not remove it.

What it is not

  • Not a wrong password: the account simply has none yet.
  • Not a second account to create: creating a new account with the same email would conflict with the existing one.
