GEX shows “NO DATA” or “PROVIDER ERROR” in Senzoukria

NO DATA means no option chain has been received and the last request failed; PROVIDER ERROR means a chain is on screen but the last request failed, so what you see came from before. The tooltip carries the provider’s error.

What you see

The status chip reads NO DATA or PROVIDER ERROR in red, and a banner repeats the error. Typical texts: “Alpaca unauthorized (HTTP 401/403) — check your API keys”, “tradier: no usable chains for {symbol} (token entitlement?)”, “Theta Terminal unreachable on {base} — is ThetaTerminal.jar running?”, “thetadata: no chains within 30 days for {symbol} — check the plan includes Option Chain Snapshots (Standard and up)”, or “databento: could not obtain spot price for {symbol}”.

Why it happens

Each GEX request asks the chosen source for the spot price and the option chains in its expiration window. Any failure is kept as the page error: with no chain yet, the chip says NO DATA; with an older chain, PROVIDER ERROR, so stale numbers are never shown as current. When a request succeeds but a level cannot be computed, the level is not invented; the page names the reason, such as “no strike above spot is call-dominant”.

How to fix it

  • Read the provider name at the start of the error and fix that source: keys for Alpaca, token entitlement for Tradier, the local terminal for ThetaData, the OPRA and ARCX licences for Databento.
  • Switch the source in “More options” → “Option chain source” to confirm that the problem is specific to one provider.
  • After fixing, use “Refresh the chain” in the GEX assumptions panel, or wait for the next auto-refresh.

What it is not

  • Not zero gamma: a missing chain is not a value of zero.
  • Not a closed market by itself: sources can still serve the last chain outside hours.

If the steps above do not change anything, send the case from Menu → Report a problem, or ask on the Senzoukria Discord. Copy the chip tooltip and the banner text, and name the source and symbol.
