Heatmap empty while the feed is live: colour scale not calibrated, window outside history, or no book

What you see

The map is uniform background colour, and one of these banners appears: “No order book received for {seconds}s: the map is empty for lack of data, not for lack of liquidity.”; “Colour scale not calibrated: the map is entirely at background level while the book is arriving. Switch intensity back to Auto.”; or “The displayed window falls outside the retained history: the map is empty because of framing, not for lack of liquidity. Go back to live.”

Why it happens

• No order book received: the renderer paints but no new book has arrived, so the black area is a data gap. When both painting and data stop, the app names the missing data, which is the cause you can act on.
• Scale not calibrated: the colour normaliser never got a high anchor, so every cell maps to the background colour. Manual scale settings can lead there.
• Outside history: you panned or zoomed to a time the heatmap no longer retains, so every pixel is background.

How to fix it

• No book: check the connection badge, the market hours and the source; see the book state in the status line.
• Scale: open the heatmap settings, Intensity, and choose Auto sensitivity instead of Manual scale.
• Framing: click the LIVE button that appears when you leave follow mode, or reset the time span.

What it is not

• Not an absence of liquidity in the market: each banner says why the map is empty.
• Not a renderer crash: painting continues; the graphics-context banners cover that case.
